Iconic trip hop group Massive Attack has recruited a league of British celebrities for their latest series of music videos – the first after a 5 year hiatus. The first video for their track “Take It There” is directed my this blog favourite Hiro Murai and features actor John Hawkes, drunkenly stumbling and dancing with his inner demons. You would have definitely seen the second video for their collaboration with Young Fathers titled “Voodoo In My Blood” across social media. It depicts an impressive performance by Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike hypnotised by an orb in an underground alley. Her performance is engaging and disturbing, and garnered tons of praise online. It was directed by Ringan Ledwidge. The latest release is a simple, sexy video by band member 3D (Robert Del Naja) for their single “Ritual Spirit”. This third video showcases model Kate Moss dancing in a dark room swinging a lightbulb that only reveals glimpses of her figure, becoming more evocative. I love the poignancy of these videos. And even though the performances are strong, the track remains the hero. All remind me what an ethereal, progressive band they have always been. Watch below.
