I’ve just come back from a long and satisfying break in Cape Town. It’s definitely one of the most beautiful cities in the world – perfectly packaged and poised to bring all your Pinterest dreams to life. But as you move further away from the wondrous Table Mountain, leafy suburbs and dreamy beaches, you stumble into a very different world known as the Cape Flats. One dominated by poverty and crime. And this is the world hip hop act Doodvernootskap live in. The video showcases the often scary, difficult circumstances of the youth in that area, surrounded by violence, drugs and gangsterism. It’s raw and refreshing and draws attention to the real side of Cape Town, as this post on AfricanHipHop.com points out. Directed by Jenna Bass.
