Halloween was last week and it was a great excuse to fly your freak flag and just pursue general bad behaviour. It inspired me to have pick this video by Gnarls Barkley for their track “Who Cares?” – it details a miserable night of a vampire just trying to feed. His misfortunes tie really well with the humourous, yet contemplative lyrics of the song. The film is called “Blood Red Nights” and was directed by Barney Clay. It stars Mario van Peebles, the son of Melvin Van Peebles who pioneered African-American film and “blaxploitation” work of the 1970’s. And the gritty inner city look and feel of that era are clearly referenced here.
